A joint meeting of the Boards of Trade and Selectmen of towns surrounding Quincy was held in Quincy, including the Braintree Selectmen. They decided to close schools, churches, club and organization meetings until further notice. People were asked to stay out in the air (weather permitting) as much as possible, but not to congregate, to prevent the spread of the disease. Another notice, all public gathering places are closed, no public funerals are to be allowed. And the anti-spitting regulations are to be enforced because influenza.
The October meeting of the Adams Chapter Daughters of the Revolution was postponed and was to be held at the Birthplace of President John Adams in Quincy. The New England Woman’s Press Association October meeting was cancelled. The meeting of the Fathers and Mothers club to have been held at the home of Mrs. Reader of Hayward Street has been postponed.
Churches
In accordance with the Braintree Board of health South Church is closed. The Rev. Harry Grimes, Paster of the First Congregational church announced all services suspended. The Union Church cancelled services, and the monthly meetings of the benevolent Society and the social club were postponed.
Trains Fumigated
The Superintendent of the Bay State Street railway announced that all of their cars are daily fumigated.
